Making a Splash at Corfe Reserve

After a number of COVID-related delays, our team was thrilled to finally get out and help kick-start some riparian planting at Corfe Reserve with our partners at Villa Maria College.

With the support of Christchurch City Council's Parks Department, we were able to clear the first section of invasive weeds at the headwaters of the Ōtākaro and plant an indicative selection of native plants ahead of a larger planting event next month.

Villa Maria students have taken on the role of kaitiaki for this stretch of the river and will tend to these (and more!) native plants in the area for years to come.
