The 9th Great Ōtākaro Avon River Walk

An annual walk along the banks of the Otakaro Avon River. Starts at the pontoon in Owles Terrace, adjacent to the end of Hardy Street in New Brighton. Ends at Millbrook reserve near Little Hagley Park. There will be a lunch stop, and a few brief speakers on route. The theme in 2020 is Climate Action. The walk is in the memory of the late Evan Smith, a tireless and passionate local Otakaro Avon River corridor activist. Gather by 10.45am for a blessing and briefing for the day. Dress for the weather. BYO food and drink. A qualified first aid person is part of the walk leadership team. The walk is organised and led by Walk for the Planet.
